HONG KONG (SE): The Hong Kong–Macau Regional Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order [OFS] convened its triennial elective chapter on April 12 at St. Bonaventure’s Church, where a new regional council was chosen for the 2026–2029 term. The event concluded with a thanksgiving Mass.
The International Council appointed Brother Byung Ju Francis Park, OFS, as chapter president. Friar Stefan Acatrinei, OFM Conv., general spiritual assistant, supervised the election and presented a formation talk focused on the chapter’s theme.
The gathering opened with a prayer led by Friar Matthias Choi, OFM, the regional spiritual assistant. Friar Acatrinei then conducted a formation session for more than 80 participants, exploring the chapter’s theme from social, theological, and historical perspectives. Marking the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’s Transitus, he reflected on the saint’s final years—emphasising his example of penance and service—and encouraged members to renew their commitment to Gospel living and become agents of transformation in society.
Outgoing regional minister, Sister Lucia Lau, ofs, reviewed the council’s achievements over the past three years and outlined priorities for the coming term.
The newly elected 2026–2029 Regional Council includes: Sister Teresa Tang, OFS, as minister; Sister Linda Chan, OFS, as vice minister; Sister Jenny Pow, OFS, as director of formation; Sister Kate Tang, OFS, as secretary; and Brother Anthony Yuen, OFS, as treasurer.
After the election, a thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Friar Choi, with Father Francis Tam, OFS, as concelebrant and Friar Deacon Francesco Li, OFM, assisting.
In his homily, Friar Matthias urged members to embody the spirit of St. Francis in daily life. The chapter closed with a final blessing, fostering a renewed sense of unity and mission.
