SHANGHAI (Agenzia Fides): In the Diocese of Shanghai, online bookings are now open for pilgrimages to the Shrine of Our Lady of Sheshan, as May marks the Marian month. On May 24, which is the Feast of Mary, Help of Christians and the World Day of Prayer for the Church in China, the shrine will host a pilgrimage of the Diocese of Shanghai. Bishop Joseph Shen Bin will preside over the Mass at the basilica.
The diocese’s website, catholicsh.org, allows both individual and group reservations, and each group will be given an identification card that will be required for admission. The “Instructions for the Pilgrimage to Sheshan,” the “Booking Procedure,” and the “Programme” are available on the diocese’s website.
The authorities and representatives of the Diocese of Shanghai have collaborated to prepare a detailed programme for receiving pilgrims from different parts of mainland China.
Bishop Shen expressed his gratitude to the civil authorities and everyone involved in organising the pilgrimage, including security and transport personnel.
He requested everyone to contribute to the orderly conduct of the pilgrimages and to maintain an atmosphere of reflection suitable for the celebration of the Eucharistic Liturgy and the administration of the Sacrament of Confession. The bishop is hopeful that the conditions will result in a valuable pilgrimage experience for all Catholic pilgrims.
