(RVA News): Kazakhstan will host the Second Kazakhstan, Holy See Joint Colloquium on the Protection of Children from October 2–3, bringing together government officials, religious leaders, international organisations and specialists to address the rights and dignity of vulnerable and incurably ill children.
The colloquium will take place at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the capital, Astana. It is being organised by the International Centre for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue and the Holy See’s Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue.
The meeting will be co-chaired by the head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and George Jacob Cardinal Koovakad, prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue.
Discussions will focus on the dignity, rights, as well as moral and spiritual support for vulnerable and incurably ill children and their families.
Participants will also examine how religious communities can work together to protect children and promote interfaith solidarity alongside medical and scientific cooperation.
The ethical use of artificial intelligence in paediatrics will also be discussed, including questions about technology in health care and human dignity.
The programme will present the Charter on the Rights of Incurably Ill Children, emphasising the importance of protecting the dignity and rights of children with serious illnesses.
