SANYUAN (Agenzia Fides): Sharing and promoting the messages of faith, hope, and charity is embodied by Pope Francis in his document Spes non Confundit [Hope does not Disappoint], which serves as the proclamation for the Ordinary Jubilee Year 2025. The document invites everyone to embark on a synodal journey in preparation for the Jubilee.

Bishop Joseph Han Yingjin of Sanyuan, Shaanxi province, led a five-hour study session aimed at deepening the understanding of the Papal Bull on November 28.

All the priests and deacons gathered with the bishop to read and study the document in Chinese. Their goal was to identify concepts that could inspire concrete pastoral care within their communities, keeping in mind that the primary beneficiaries of the Church’s mission are the poor, the needy, and immigrants.

Participants shared ideas and suggestions for potential initiatives, such as pilgrimages and Bible courses, to align with the Jubilee period.

Bishop Han explained that the purpose of the meeting was to encourage everyone to embrace the Jubilee Year with faith and to obtain “the grace and indulgence of the Lord.” He emphasised the importance of ensuring that, in every community and parish, no one feels hopeless during these challenging times. He asserted that the suffering Christ represents salvation, hope, consolation, and blessing for all of humanity.

“Each one of us priests,” the bishop added, “must set a good example and put into practice the spirit of the Bull, which has a far-reaching historical significance and an extraordinary impact in promoting the current and future work of evangelization and pastoral care”.

Upon returning to their parishes, priests and deacons began distributing copies of Spes Non Confundit to their communities. They explained its content and encouraged the baptised.
