Three communities of St. Alfred’s Parish in Tai Wai held a combined celebration on October 13 as the Choir Group, Elim Community, and the One in Christ Prayer Group had their 37th, 20th, and 29th anniversaries respectively. This was the first time the groups celebrated their anniversaries together in five years due to the Covid pandemic.

A Tagalog Mass was celebrated by Filipino chaplain Father Jay Flandez SVD to mark the occasion.

The new parish priest, Father Luc Rene Young Chen Yin OMI, gave an opening talk and blessed the groups.

Sister Mary Cordero OSF, the founder and spiritual advisor of the One In Christ Prayer Group, gave an inspirational talk, emphasising the importance of patience and bearing with one another in community life, reminding members that they are an extended spiritual family.

Before concluding her talk, she mentioned that she will be leaving Hong Kong for a new assignment in Taiwan and thanked the members for their kindness and support to her, assuring them of her prayers.

Brother Willie Nakar, the founder of Elim Community, congratulated the group via video.

The afternoon’s programme also included performances by each group, showcasing their dancing and singing talents.

The event, attended by 300 people,  concluded with a message from assistant parish priest, Father Dominic Fung King-ho omi, and closing prayers. SE
