The Missionaries of Charity Sisters held a recollection at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cheung Chau Island on October 11.
The event focused on the importance of confession and strengthening one’s faith in the face of challenges.
It started by confessions with Father Bernardo Cervellera PIME, our assistant parish priest at St. Terera’s Church while we were on the Ferry to Cheung Chau.

Father Joseph Garcia, parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima, in his message for the day, emphasised that confession requires humility and sincerity, and that one should not delay returning to God.
He also stressed that true faith involves holding onto God even amidst difficulties, as the devil can exploit problems to draw people away from God.
We had a group sharing in the afternoon after we watched a documentary video about Exorcism entitled “LIWANAG sa Dilim” (Light in the Darkness). We shared our experiences with the devil’s attacks through infestation and oppression, recognising how pride, anger, and envy can open doors to evil.
What impressed me was what Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle said in the video that the devil seeks to exploit our weakness and cause us to lose hope and faith, but ultimately God is more powerful than the devil.
The recollection served to deepen our faith, reminding them that God’s love and mercy are available to all, and that even in times of darkness, God’s light can shine through. This gathering aimed to provide spiritual strength through confession, prayer, and communion, empowering the sisters to fight against the devil and remain steadfast in their faith.
