MANILA (RVA News): The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines [CBCP] is organising the National Vocation Festival, urging the country’s dioceses to promote vocations among young people.
“One of the current priorities is to foster a Culture of Vocations in the dioceses. This is also a priority for the first National Vocation Festival,” said Father Randy de Jesus, the executive secretary of the CBCP’s Episcopal Commission on Vocations.
According to Father de Jesus, the Philippine Church must have a ‘vocation culture’ to guide young people who want to serve the Lord’s flock.
The priest, who also serves as the National Coordinator of the Directors of Vocations in the Philippines, announced that the first National Vocation Festival, with the theme, In the call of the Good Shepherd, let’s go on a mission together, is scheduled to take place on April 27, at the Rogationist College in Silang, Cavite. More than 4,000 young people from different dioceses have registered for the gathering.
He said that the National Vocation Festival can raise awareness among youth and all citizens about the significance of vocation in the Christian community.
“The goal is not to count how many will enter the seminaries but to seek many young people to see a good life from the stories of priests, nuns, and lay people who responded to God’s call,” Father de Jesus said.
The National Vocation Festival is one of the featured activities of the National Convention of Vocation Directors and Directresses on the 50th anniversary of the Directors of Vocations in the Philippines.
