Easter has finally arrived. Rather than celebrating it for the public holidays or delicious meals, we celebrate it because Christ has triumphed over death and gave humanity hope of eternal life. As we celebrate the feast of all feasts, Easter, let’s keep the flames of faith and hope burning brightly within us.
By reading the Word of God diligently, we strengthen our faith and are assured that God is always with us. To redeem humanity, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus. He chose to endure suffering and death, and his resurrection conquered death, giving us hope for life even after death. As Christians, we rely on the same hope that God has a comprehensive plan and that he is all-knowing, even in challenging circumstances. He doesn’t do things the way we want him to but the way he wants to. Justice will triumph over injustice and suffering.
The joys and hopes of Easter are distant realities for people affected by the ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine and between Israel and Palestine, with Israel going as far as announcing the annexation of parts of Palestinian territory in the West Bank. These actions will only contribute to increasing animosity on both sides, and the journey towards peace appears to be lengthy.
The Easter Proclamation calls us to share with our surroundings—the creation—the eternal life we have gained through Jesus’ death and resurrection. We have a responsibility to share our hope and faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection through our lives and testimony, especially with those who have not been baptised.
Is it your habit to help someone in trouble when you know they’re a mess? Like the poor widow in the Bible, do you give what you have, even if it’s just two small coins (Luke 21:1-4)? Loving others is not just about giving material help but also taking time out of your busy schedule to help those in need. Listening sincerely to other perspectives, nurturing the hearts of those in need with the strength of hope, and fostering their confidence for the road ahead are all parts of this process.
The “World Happiness Report” 2024, published by the United Nations, assesses nations and areas according to social support, income per person, longevity, liberty, kindness, and levels of corruption. According to the survey, Hong Kong is positioned at 86 out of 143 locations. When focusing on the population under 30 years old, Hong Kong is ranked 97th. What are the reasons behind the unhappiness of young people in Hong Kong?
It’s common knowledge that youth play a crucial role in community development and are valued members of the Church community. The elderly, adults, youth, and children are all interconnected, and none should be overlooked. This is something to ponder. Let’s mark this significance of Easter and ensure that we spread hope and joy to others. SE
