HONG KONG (SE):, The Canossian Sisters celebrated the golden jubilee of entrance into religious life of Sister Cecilia Ching and Sister Monica Wong, and the silver jubilee of religious profession of a provincial councillor, Sister Lucia Cheung, on September 11.
The Mass was concelebrated by Father Benedict Lam Cho-ming, Jesuit Father Stephen Tong Chak-long and Father Joseph Yim Tak-lung, at the Canossian Missions Chapel on Caine road. Sister Ching, who is in Macau, was not able to attend.
Due to Covid-19 social distancing measures, participants were limited to around 150 people, including sisters from the congregation, Lay Canossians, relatives and friends.
On behalf of the jubilarians, Sister Cheung delivered a message of thanksgiving to God for his faithful love and blessings. She shared “home-and-hand-made” souvenirs with the assembly: candies of different flavours—sweet, sour, bitter and spicy—representing different life situations. But, love, represented by a heart-shaped cookie, triumphs over all these experiences of life. The souvenirs were later distributed to all attendees.
The celebration also reminded the Canossian Sisters of their identity as Daughters of Charity, Servants of the Poor, whose mission is to make Jesus known and loved among the suffering brethren.
The Canossian Sisters wish to thank all who took the time to join the celebration and ask for continued prayers for the grace of fidelity to their religious commitment.
