HONG KONG (SE): The Mission For Migrant Workers of the Anglican St. John’s Cathedral, Central, is now holding its annual raffle ticket sale to raise funds to help migrants cope with the Covid-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic and support its daily operations. 

Johannie Tong Hui-yan, community relations officer of the Mission for Migrant Workers, said that since the start of the Covid-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, the group has assisted over 300 migrant domestic workers find free temporary accommodation, distributed masks and sanitisers, and provided translated information about Covid-19 to thousands of migrant workers. 

According to Tong, the funds raised will be used to support migrant domestic workers in need, especially those who have been terminated and cannot go home because of the pandemic, those who are in between jobs and those who are waiting to receive their labour compensation. 

At present, the group is also organising food assistance campaigns to those who have no money for food after being terminated, or not being provided enough food while quarantining in hotels.

Each ticket costs $10. The group accepts payment through cheque, PayMe, Alipay, TNG wallet. Details of the payment methods can be found by scanning the QR code below.

After confirming the payment, the group will send the raffle draw ticket numbers through email or WhatsApp.

The raffle draw will be held on November 22 at 6.00pm at the group’s office at St. John’s Cathedral. The prizes include an iPhone, a laptop and an Apple Watch.
