A call giving my life a goal

A call giving my life a goal

As an overseas Filipino worker, serving my employers and my Church community is not just a responsibility—it is a calling that fills my life with purpose.

Being away from home and loved ones is never easy, and the challenges of working in a foreign country can often feel overwhelming. But in the act of service, I find strength. I feel a deep sense of fulfillment knowing that my work supports my family back home and provides them with a better future. Every task I do, no matter how big or small, becomes a labor of love.

I find a second family in my Church community. Serving there gives me a space to grow spiritually, emotionally, and even socially. It allows me to stay rooted in my faith and values even when I’m far from home. Whether I’m helping with Church activities, reaching out to fellow members, or just being present, I feel a genuine sense of connection and belonging. These moments of service remind me that I’m not alone on this journey. They give me hope and inspire me to keep going, even on the hardest days.

There are times when I feel tired, homesick, or unappreciated — but the joy of seeing others helped, encouraged, or uplifted by what I do makes it all worthwhile. Serving others teaches me humility, patience, and resilience. It builds my character and deepens my compassion. In both my work and my church, I find a greater purpose that goes beyond earning a living — it becomes a way to live with purpose, guided by faith and love.
