Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
God Loves a Cheerful Giver
It has been a year full of challenges for the whole Hong Kong community. Facing a seemingly uncertain outlook and various unresolved problems, how should we handle the situation and gain mutual understanding? There is no straightforward answer. We trust that only when we live out the spirit of the Christ’s love, can we live an enriched life. To be in a state of physical, mental and spiritual health, we must maintain a peaceful and merciful attitude. More importantly, we should not forget that there are many people in need around us. Let us pray for the illumination and guidance of the Holy Spirit to light the way to a bright future. “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all” (Psalm 34:19).
Caritas–Hong Kong (Caritas) has been serving the Hong Kong community for 66 years. It will continue to keep pace with times and uphold the mission of “Love in the Service of Hope” to meet the needs of different groups. Grateful for the support from all walks of life, Caritas is able to stay close to the people Hong Kong even when facing different changes and transitions over the decades. As a charitable organization providing diversified social services, the expenditure of Caritas is large and commitment is substantial. With long-term generous support and donations, Caritas can continue to sustain and optimise its services. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). No matter how much you donate, your act can have a positive impact on the beneficiaries and bring boundless hope to the needy and the community as a whole.
The annual Caritas Fundraising Campaign is an important and effective platform for all service groups, parishes, schools and the general public to work heart to heart, and hand in hand to raise funds for Caritas. Thanks to your sincere dedication and selfless devotion, the funds raised have kept on breaking records over the past few years. Thousands of the LAST, the LEAST and the LOST within the community have benefited.
“Many a little makes a mickle.” Let us continue to unite our strength and lend a helping hand to the weak and the needy. Your generosity will give hope to the lost, show mercy to the sorrowful and bring joy to the weary! Every little donation is enough to achieve great grace.
