As an overseas worker, I worked with different people. It was hard to deal with my former employer’s personality and she was difficult to get along with. Almost every six months she would fire a helper and find a new replacement.
I was the only one who managed to work for her for 14 years because of my patience. I learned to be patient and prayed for her every day. When she was angry, I’d just keep quiet and wait for her to calm down, and then I’d calmly give my side of the story. I think that was the reason why I was able to work for her for so long.
After working with her for many years, my aunt referred me to her employer who needed two helpers. I have been with my second and current employer for 11 years.
And one thing I remember is not to speak when I am angry, so as not to say hurtful words. At work we need to have the virtues of patience and humility.
