How did you feel a day without praying?

How did you feel a day without praying?

My day without prayer is incomplete. Something is missing. With no guidance from the Holy Spirit and there is no peace of mind. I cannot concentrate on my daily work. I feel guilty when I do not pray and instead spend time with my mobile phone, but I cannot give time for prayer, so I have made it a habit to spend time with the Lord when I wake up in the morning, to listen to him and to pray. Prayer is an opportunity to grow in gratitude as we realise the truth of who we are, who God is, what he has done and how blessed we are. When we do not pray, we rob ourselves of the opportunity to be thankful and joyful.

I have experienced not praying for a day and as a result I felt my body weakened with negative thoughts.

There is a saying from Edwin Harvey that “A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power”

That is why every time I wake up, I start my day by smiling at God and saying, “Thank you. I love you Lord for waking me up and giving me a life full of hope to carry on my mission”

Colossians 4:2 says “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful with thanksgiving.”

My day is not complete without prayer. Prayer is an important part of my daily routine. It gives me energy, strength, peace of mind, faith and patience. Whenever I am in a bad situation, talking to God lightens my burden. He guides me in the right direction and gives me the grace to resist temptation. Every day is a “thank you God” for his grace and mercy.

I felt so terribly guilty because I knew that God was not my priority at that time. I let my spirit down, I let my spirit go hungry and thirsty for a day. We know that prayer is one of the foods for our spirit. Just like our own physical body, we feed it by eating food that we crave and like. So if I am very concerned about my physical body not going hungry and starving for the day, I should be even more concerned about my spirit not letting the day go by without feeding it. If I feed my body, which will only rot on the day I die, the more I will and should feed my spirit daily with spiritual food like prayers, knowing that my spirit is the one that will remain eternally. That’s how I keep convincing myself to make sure I don’t let the day go by without prayer and spiritual reading. On the other hand, I am grateful for this experience because I have felt the work of the Holy Spirit in my prayer life. He is so close in my heart, always guiding, reminding, convicting and disciplining me.

I feel so weak when I cannot pray, something is missing all day long. It feels like I have a hole in my soul that I cannot understand. So when life feels too hard, I will remember these promises: “With God all things are possible”(Mark 10:27) and “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).  We will grow immensely as brothers and sisters when we learn to say “your will be done”. Total surrender to the will of God allows the highest good to come about.

I experienced a day without prayer, and I felt emptiness, I felt that half of my life was gone. No willingness to do anything, it is like an empty box, lack of energy, feels weak and I cannot concentrate on what I need to accomplish. I feel like a paralysed body just lying in bed. Through prayer we unite ourselves with God and the Holy Spirit, who works for our souls and makes us accept everything, even in our most difficult moments. Just keep praying, no matter what happens. Have faith and believe that God is always with us.
