HONG KONG (SE): On September 7, the Canossian Sisters celebrated the 50th anniversary of the entrance into religious life of Sister Maria Goretti Wong and Sister Magdalene Poh. The Mass was celebrated by Paris Foreign Missions Father Pierre Lam at the Canossian Missions Chapel on Caine Road.
The sisters were joined by the Lay Canossians, relatives, and friends. Sister Poh was blessed to have her relatives from Singapore and Malaysia witness this joyful occasion. Praise the Lord!
This year marks the jubilee year of the 250th birth anniversary of St. Magdalene of Canossa, the founder of the Canossian Institute. In his homily, Father Lam encouraged the sisters to continue her legacy, to follow Christ Crucified faithfully, and learn from Mother Mary the way she loves and serves.
After the homily, the two Jubilarians renewed their “forever yes” to the Lord, vowed chastity, poverty, and obedience.
Before the Mass ended, Sister Wong and Sister Poh delivered a vote of thanks, thanking God for His faithful love and for the many blessings bestowed on them through the loving care of their fellow sisters, families, relatives, and friends. They also thanked the choir and the Lay Canossians for their generous help that contributed to the success of the celebration.
The Canossian Sisters wish to thank those who joined in the celebration and ask for continued prayer for the grace of fidelity to their Canossian life.
