Participation encouraged in Fifth Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy

(RVA News): Officials The World Apostolic Congress on Mercy [WACOM] called on the faithful to join the Fifth Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy [AACOM], scheduled for October 14 to 19 in Cebu, the Philippines.

Bishop Ruperto Santos of Antipolo, Asia director for WACOM, emphasised the importance of the gathering as a chance to deepen the understanding and experience of God’s mercy during these challenging times.

“Our dearest faithful, as we prepare for this grace-filled event, the 5th Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy, hosted by the Archdiocese of Cebu, we warmly invite you to join us. Your presence and active participation will be a great honor,” Bishop Santos said in a message aired on Radio Veritas Philippines.

Themed “Divine Mercy: Pilgrimage of Hope in Asia,’ the six-day event will feature talks from prominent speakers, including Bishop Dennis Villarojo of Malolos, Bishop Marvyn Maceda of San Jose de Antique, Marian Father Chris Alar, Father Patrice Chocholski, Father Kazimierz Chwalek, and former Supreme Court justice, Hilario Davide.

The congress will open on October 14 with a Mass at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu at 4:00pm, presided over by papal nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Charles Brown.

The event will culminate in a foot procession at 3:00am on October 19 from the Cebu Provincial Capitol, followed by a closing Mass at 6:00am at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu.
