While we are probably basking in the love of our family, others are starving for affection, suffering from emotional and physical abuse, nursing a battered spirit and struggling just to get through another day.
As we delight in the blessing of good health, there are many others who have been confined to their hospital beds fighting for dear life and praying for recovery.
While we enjoy the freedom to pursue our goals, live our dreams or engage in worthwhile activities, there are many others who are shut behind iron bars just longing to see the sunshine.
As we gaily chatter with our peers and friends sharing life’s simple pleasures, many others are being gripped by the claws of loneliness and rejection.
While we recline in our beds trying to soothe our weary mind and body, many do not even have a place to stay for the night.
While we relish the delectable food on our table, many are scavenging barely able to find a morsel for their next meal.
So let us stop whining how difficult life is and start counting our blessings. We will be happier if we learn to appreciate the small tokens of God’s goodness and mercy wonderfully scattered along our way.
Let us value the intangible gifts we receive every day and the people in our lives we just take for granted because they are our true riches. Let us always be grateful for despite adverse circumstances we are still greatly blessed.
