What truly matters

What truly matters

It’s not material wealth, power or popularity
Nor our achievements, prestige or status in the society
That give us a sense of fulfillment and security
But our connection and faith in the Almighty

It’s not the glittering, shimmering alluring things we see
Nor the myriad glamorous stuff in ostentatious display
But what’s truly amazing is nature’s pristine beauty
Fashioned by God in grandeur and magnificent array

It’s not our lucrative career, creed, colour or ethnicity
Nor our political affiliation or educational degree
That constitute real greatness and true nobility
But our sterling character, values and integrity

It’s not the modernisation or advanced technology
Nor the worldly pleasure that is fleeting and temporary
Which can satisfy the yearning soul that is thirsty
For the lasting joy that God alone can give abundantly

It’s not worldly accolade, crown,
medal or trophy
That we should aspire
in this earthly journey

But a life which is pleasing
to his divine majesty
That we may dwell with him
throughout eternity
