
HONG KONG (SE): Sister Lucie Gagne of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception [MIC], returned to the bosom of the Lord on 9 December 2022 in Delia Tetreault Ward, Canada, at the age of 79, after 61 years in religious life.
Sister Gagne was born in 1942 at Black Lake, Mégantic, Quebec, Canada, and entered the congregation in 1961. She was later sent to proclaim the Good News in America, the Philippines and Hong Kong.
She arrived in Hong Kong in 1986 and, apart from devoting her time to learning Cantonese, she also served as the spiritual director of the English Choir at St. Ignatius Chapel. She also taught at Good Hope School and Tak Oi Secondary School for a while and took up the service of authority as the assistant provincial superior and provincial secretary.
In the General Chapters of 2000 and later years, she was elected vicar general and assistant general, taking care of different provinces. In early 2022, after the conclusion of the 15th General Chapter, she was about to go back to her former mission in the Philippines, however, her plans were aborted due of illness which eventually brought back to the Father.
Sister Gagne praised God with her songs and service. She was indeed a passionate and dynamic missionary who ignited others with her spirit of joy.
A Mass of the Resurrection for Sister Gagne will be held on Saturday, 14 January 2023 at 10.00am in Our Lady of the Magnificat Chapel at Good Hope Convent, 381 Jat’s Incline, Kowloon, to be celebrated by Father Paul Vladimir omi.
