Retreat in Ningxia explores the importance of spirituality on ministry

NINGXIA (Agenzia Fides): Thirty-seven Priests, seminarians and religious sisters on an annual retreat in the Diocese of Ningxia, China, from June 25 to 28, were encouraged to open their hearts, maintain silence and meditate and examine their consciences, so that they might hear the voice of the Lord and respond to his call, according to Faith, the print and online bulletin, Chinese Catholic.

The retreat focused on the four effects of spirituality as found in the Bible: psychology, spirituality: which gives meaning to pastoral and missionary activity; which helps find answers to life’s questions; which can renew the mission; which facilitates interaction with God.

Bishop Joseph Li Jing of Ningxia, joined participants to encourage them  on the synodal journey, so that they might empower their pastoral, social and missionary work with a new spiritual impulse.

Following Pope Francis’ invitation to protect the environment in his encyclical, Laudato Sì’: On care for our common home, the diocesan social service centre often organises various initiatives, including the production of organically farmed vegetables, promoting the separating articles for waste collection and disposal, campaigning for a plastic-free world, banning the use of plastics and pursuing concept of green development.
