One in Christ Prayer Group gives thanks as it turns 26
Members renew their commitments before Father Mark Serna on October 10.

The One in Christ Prayer Group (OICPG) of St. Alfred’s Church in Shatin, New Territories celebrated their 26th anniversary on October 10 with a Tagalog Mass celebrated by Oblate missionary Father Mark Anthony Serna, in which members renewed their commitments and a special blessing was given upon them.

In the Month of the Holy Rosary, a new statue of Our Lady of Lourdes was blessed. After the Mass, the group together with their invited guests prayed one decade of the rosary in honour of Our Lady.

Concepcion Alabado, the coordinator, thanked guests for their presence. Father Ireneusz Jecek Dampc, assistant parish priest, thanked God for the support of all the members, and congratulated them for their achievements and outstanding services.

Recognition awards were given to the present and past coordinators for their contributions to the group. Benefactors were each given a plaque of appreciation too.

This year’s celebration carried the theme “Give Thanks” which was really appropriate and timely for the Lord has showered the group with bountiful blessings. For the first time a booklet about the history of the group founded by Sister Mary Cordero osf and its present events was published. Each member was given a copy so that they can treasure their legacy. Newly-designed Divine Mercy T-shirts and badges were granted to members.

The group also expressed its gratitude for donors who provided secondhand musical instruments and boxes of facial masks, as well as a benefactor who sponsored the printing cost of its booklet.

Furthermore, the gathering was to welcome a new member who became part of the group after completing her probationary period of three months and the return of some former members.

Father Ireneusz Jecek Dampc, assistant parish priest of St. Alfred’s who will be leaving Hong Kong in November for a new assignment in Cuba, received a gift from the group who wished him bon voyage. SE
