
HONG KONG (SE): The 2021 Hong Kong Hymnos Festival will make its debut from November 10 to 15 featuring two major concerts and an educational talk. Tickets to the events are now on sale online and at outlets.
The Hong Kong Hymnos Festival Society is the first Catholic lay association in Hong Kong to promote hymn-singing through public performances, new compositions and training programmes. Hymnos, is the Greek root word for “hymns” in English, which means song of praise.
The festival will feature some of Hong Kong’s best choral groups, ensembles, pianists and composers, playing and singing hymn music to the highest standards.
The list of performers includes celebrated pianist, Colleen Lee Ka-ling,as well as French lyric tenor,Matthieu Sachot. Songwriter and singer, Vansie, as well as the chamber music ensemble, NEXUS, will showcase their original works.
Music educator and conductor, Professor Chan Wing-wah,will present the Festival Choir formed by Good Hope School Choir and Wah Yan College Kowloon Boys’ Choir.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the special guest performance by Father Christopher Chor Yuk-wa and Father Slawomir Kalisz, as well as Reverend Arthur Ho Kam-tim and Reverend Frankie Lee Yat-fan from the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui [Anglican].
A talk about Gregorian Chant will be held at the Caritas Institute of Higher Education on November 14. Tickets for the talk can be purchased through the official website [www.hkHymnosfestival.org], where concert programmes, ticketing and registration information are also available.
Tickets for the opening concert at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall on November 10 and the closing concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall on November 15 are now being sold at all Urbtix Ticketing outlets, online or via the mobile ticketing app, My URBTIX. Prices are from $220, $320 to $420 each. A limited number of student tickets are also available.
