In a group activity in the Church, the instructor asked us to play a game. We were told to imagine that we are in a sinking ship and there was only one lifeboat which could not accommodate all. One among us must be left out.
Some group members said I should not board the lifeboat because I was old.
I was upset as that was so unfair to me. I said I had the right to live although I was old. I said I wanted to celebrate my coming birthday too.
The instructor suggested we could in fact take turns in staying on the lifeboat so that all could live.
The instructor said the game told us that our lives will become miserable when people are competing and ignoring the needs of others. But life is wonderful when we are united and connected in love.
