Precious Blood sister called to eternal rest

HONG KONG (SE): Precious Blood Sister Bernadette Yeung May-yung, who served as the principal of Precious Blood schools for decades, died on October 28 at the age of 90 after 61 years of consecrated life.

Sister Yeung joined the Precious Blood Sisters in 1959 and made her first vow in 1961. She was assigned to the education ministry where she served as the principal of Tack Ching Primary School, Tsuen Wan, Pui Ling School of the Precious Blood, Fanling and Kwai Ming Wu Memorial School of the Precious Blood, Tsuen Wan. After she retired in 1992, she continued to render her services in the capacity of supervisor or manager of number of schools and contributed her valuable experience.

Spending most of her life in the education field, Sister Yeung was remembered for her selfless attitude in helping students and teachers in difficulty and was well-loved by them.

Sister Yeung was also the superior of the Precious Blood Nursery Community, Shamshuipo, for many years. In 2001, she moved to the Fanling community where she could take better care of her worsening health due to a leg operation and a mild stroke. In September 2020, she underwent a surgery at the North District Hospital but her condition remained unstable until she passed away in October.

The funeral Mass for Sister Yeung was held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Shek Kip Mei, at 9:30am on November 7, followed by interment at the graveyard for the Sisters of the Precious Blood at St. Raphael’s Catholic Cemetery, Cheung Sha Wan.
