I never knew that love could feel like flight,
Until you turned my darkness into light.
It isn’t just the way you hold my hand,
Or how you help me
firmly learn to stand;
It’s in the quiet
morning coffee shared,
The simple ways you show me that you cared.
Like that red balloon against the summer blue,
My heart finds altitude when I’m with you.
You see the parts of me I used to hide,
And walk with steady patience by my side.
The valleys that once felt so steep and wide,
Are small now with your spirit as my guide.
So let the world keep spinning far below,
In your sweet grace is where I want to grow.
For every mile and every mountain view,
I’m simply glad to be soaring next to you.
