The most meaningful gift I have given was returning home last December to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. She was surprised because I hadn’t been present for her birthday celebrations since she was five, and this year she turned seventeen. On the flip side, the most meaningful gift I received was spending Christmas and New Year with my family for the first time in nearly twelve years. This made the occasion priceless for me, and I am truly thankful to God for this special blessing.

While I have received many gifts, the most meaningful ones go beyond material items. It is the bond and genuine happiness shared with loved ones during Christmas that stands out. Laughing, feasting, and simply enjoying each other’s company fills the celebration with warmth and connection. These moments are irreplaceable and what truly makes Christmas special.

When reflecting on the best gifts I’ve received, I realize my son is the most precious of all. I conceived him while working in Hong Kong, and during my pregnancy, I faced crucial decisions. At five months, I declined genetic tests and chose to accept my baby as he was. During an ultrasound, five doctors observed as I prayed for his normal development. I was overjoyed when they confirmed everything was progressing well. Now that my son is seven, I continue to guide him, and despite our distance, he’s thriving academically. With faith, truly nothing is impossible.

For me, my family is the greatest gift. They provide me with strength, love, and support. I am incredibly grateful for their presence in my life. They have always stood by me through difficulties, embodying unconditional love. Even though we may have disagreements, we prioritize open communication and understanding, always finding ways to console and support each other during tough times.

One of the most meaningful gifts I received was being part of a mission supporting a public school teacher who wanted a Holy Mass at their school, so students and their parents could attend, as they rarely go to church on Sundays. To facilitate this, a piano was needed for the choir, and by God’s grace, we were able to provide one. This brought me joy, reminding me of our calling as baptized Christians to spread the Gospel in simple ways, especially to youth who may not yet know him.

A memorable Christmas experience for me occurred a few years back when I sought the perfect gift for a close friend in Hong Kong. One year, I planned to give him exercise equipment—a resistance band—thinking it was a thoughtful idea. I wrapped it beautifully, excited to present it on Christmas Eve. However, I later discovered he did not want that gift, leading me to rethink my approach. The wrapped resistance band remains in my home as a reminder of that Christmas. This taught me that meaningful gifts come from understanding the recipient and their true values, highlighting the importance of thoughtfulness in giving.
