VATICAN (LiCAS): The Vatican has announced a special Jubilee for digital missionaries and Catholic influencers, scheduled for July 28–29, as part of the Church’s broader Jubilee of Youth. The initiative is being led by the Dicastery for Communication in response to directives from the Synod on Synodality.
The event aims to gather those involved in evangelisation through digital platforms—both pastoral workers in online ministries and Catholic content creators who use social media to share values rooted in faith.
“This event is addressed to all those who, in diverse ways, contribute to the evangelising mission in digital spaces,” said Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication.
It includes “those engaged directly in pastoral ministry in digital environments—accompanying, proclaiming, and creating spaces for encounter with the gospel—and for Catholic influencers who, through their presence on social media, inspire others, build community, and transmit values rooted in Christian faith.”
According to the dicastery, the programme will include opportunities for “formation, prayer, communion, witness, and mutual exchange,” with the goal of “fostering unity among digital missionaries so that they may evangelise more effectively together and build bridges with Pastors, in service of an authentic ecclesial mission.”
Registration is now open through www.digitalismissio.org. Participants are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and event costs.
Ruffini noted that the Dicastery “may be able to offer partial financial assistance” to individuals who would be “appropriate but lack the necessary means.”
The synod’s final document called on the Church to prioritise its digital mission. “This reality finds us unprepared and requires the choice to dedicate resources so that the digital environment may be a prophetic place of mission and proclamation,” the document said.
The two-day event will open with sessions on formation and spiritual preparation, followed by a day focused on Jubilee celebrations, experience-sharing, and renewed missionary commitment.
