From the life of Pope Francis we can learn the power of humility, compassion and simplicity. His lifestyle was far from luxurious and extravagant. He was close to the poor and the marginalised. He lived the values of the Gospel in action, not just in words. At the heart of his teachings is love. Love for God, for people and for creation. These are some of the virtues I learned from him.

We can learn many valuable lessons from the Pope. He taught us the importance of humility, kindness, and compassion for others, especially the poor and marginalized. He also encouraged us to live simply, to forgive, and to be instruments of peace. Through his words and actions, he inspired us to strengthen our faith, to care for creation, and to build a more just and loving world.

I thank the Lord for choosing Pope Francis to be the Pope of this new world era. Pope Francis took the name and virtue of St. Francis to live in the simplest way, staying in an apartment rather than a luxury place, so that others may have. His passion to share the love of God with all brings many, especially those who are marginalized and bound by sickness, weakness and poverty, as I recalled his message Pope Francis’ message for the first World Day of the Poor in 2017: “Let us love, not with words, but with deeds and in truth.” (1 John 3:18). He is the Pope who in 2015 proclaimed a Jubilee Year of Mercy and now of Hope. He is a Pope who transcends boundaries

Pope Francis’ life was an inspiration to me and to everyone. What I learned from him is how to live in simplicity. Not to give too much attachment to temporal things, then we are more able to become a more generous person. I include his intentions in my rosary prayers, which opened my mind to his dedication and love for Christians and non-Christians. What struck me most were his words, “Who am I to judge” and that “a Christian is never bored or sad. Rather, the one who loves Christ is full of joy and radiates joy”. You could see it in his smile as a servant of God, full of joy. Farewell Pope Francis, Lolo Kiko (Grandma Francis). You are a true shepherd of peace, humility and compassion. Your legacy will echo for generations to come. Thank you and we love you.

There are many virtues that Pope Francis possessed. He had a special kind of charisma that drew people to love him. His humility and simplicity of life until his death were his virtues that I admired the most, especially his emphasis on love. I also live my life in a simple way and I do not have luxurious things around me. That’s what I learned from him.

Some people dream of living a good life, having enough money to meet their needs, like fancy cars, big houses, and luxury items because they think these things will make them happy. But if we are to emulate the teachings and example of Pope Francis, we will not prioritise these things. He lived his life in a very humble way and did his best to reach out to the poor and the marginalised.

Pope Francis inspired me because of his inspiring leadership and dedication to service, his faith, and his compassion. He had this big heart for the poor. As Pope Francis says, “Help one another: this is what Jesus teaches us and this what I am doing, and doing with all my heart, because it is my duty.” The Pope also taught us to be humble because he said that true power is service.
