MACAU (UCAN): The Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy of the University of Saint Joseph [USJ] in Macau, and the University of Saint Joseph in Macao and the Faculty of Social Sciences of Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, signed an agreement to exchange students and strengthen academic cooperation, according to a March 30 report on Jornal O-Clarim.
The process began after Macau-based Father Cyril Law, dean of the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy at St. Joseph’s, visited Fu Jen to explore means of academic collaboration and cooperation.
Father Law, among other things, discussed the foundations of an agreement enabling the exchange of undergraduate students doing Catholic Studies at both universities.
The agreement provides for students of Philosophy and Religious Studies from the University of Saint Joseph to be admitted, upon recommendation, to study for one or two semesters at Fu Jen University.
“The same applies to students from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Fu Jing University, who will be able to study at USJ for one or two semesters,” he added.
Father Law called the agreement “a new milestone in cooperation” between two top higher education institutions because students in either university would be required to pay tuition fees or administrative fees to the host university.
Earlier, Saint Francis University in Hong Kong signed two agreements with Fu Jen Catholic University for institutional and health sciences cooperation [Sunday Examiner, March 30].
