Birthdays are a time to reflect
To give thanks for our blessings.
For all that has come our way.
A time to look inside ourselves
And see if we have gone astray.
Another year over and a new one begun
A time to consider the number of years
The months and the days.
Have I done well in this time?
Or do I need to amend my ways?
I thank You Lord for all that You’ve sent
The good and bad days alike
Everything that I have endured
And all that is yet to come.
I pray that I’ll be prepared.
So lift a glass with me and say cheers
Because who knows how many years remain.
Time slips away before our eyes
And even though I don’t feel old.
I’m getting closer to my Eternal Prize.
