How can you describe your journey of faith?

My faith journey has been challenged throughout my life, I have had many ups and downs and many times I have questioned my faith. Although these times have been hard, I have found comfort in God and knowing that He is always there for me. The very first time my faith was challenged was when my youngest son was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. Trusting that our Lord has a purpose for everything in our lives, I found that my relationship with God grew. Through all the difficult circumstances I have faced, my faith in God has given me the encouragement I need to persevere through any situation.

My faith in God has paved the way for my relationship with him to become strong and firm. In every situation that comes my way, especially those that almost overwhelm me, my faith keeps me going and fighting the good fight of faith. I have become strong in the belief that God will do wonders and miracles in my life. Even though I cannot see him, I can feel his presence. My faith in him will never waver, because in him all things are possible and I am totally indebted to him.

The journey of faith is like setting out on a journey into the unknown, guided by belief, faith and spirituality. It is a journey full of difficulties, doubts and realisations as one searches for meaning, understanding and a relationship with the higher or divine. One’s character and perspective are shaped by the happy, enlightening and transforming things one encounters along the way. It is a very personal journey that is unique to each person, yet often shared in religious communities.

Because I have this unwavering trust in God and belief that doing good works, obeying the commandments and repenting of my sins has never been easy. I can describe the journey of my faith as a rollercoaster ride. I enjoy the ride in spite of my fears and worries. My faith is not just instilled in my mind by knowing Jesus at a young age, it grows deeper as time goes by. I always hold on to this verse from Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I have been challenged with so many ups and downs that have shaken my faith, but there’s always one thread of my nerve that keeps me holding on, never giving up, fully believing and trusting God to keep his promises.

My journey of faith is like a long road on which I do my best to keep my eyes on home, where my heavenly Father is waiting to embrace me and remind me that I am his child. It’s a journey of thanksgiving and praise to God for his abundant love. I live life to understand the goal of living this life like Jesus. We run our individual race that God has set for us. Each of us has a different calling in life and that calling can only be fulfilled through Christ. I seek God every day through his words. It is a journey because it happens daily in my life: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). And it is the way we were meant to live: “For we walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
