June 12 we are remembering the day of freedom
Filipino patriots and heroes revolted against the Spanish kingdom
Led by Emilio Aguinaldo in 1898 they won the “Battle of Alapan”
Twas a glorious day for every Filipino man.
We commemorate this liberation from colonial rule
Today the valor and courage of the Katipuneros is taught in school
On 12 June 1898 in Kawit, Cavite the independence was declared
The gallantry of our Filipino heroes today is remembered.
Eight Philippine provinces revolted against Spain
They went to the “Battle of Alapan” to win
The rays of the sun in the Philippine flag symbolises these provinces.
Today we enjoy the Independence Day
To the bravery of the Filipino heroes let us pray
This day of freedom we owe from their gallantry
We’ll remember this independence from history.
