New dawn arises

New dawn arises

New dawn arises
The morning star is risen.
The Son emerges from behind the stone
This is the day that the Lord has made
No need now for tears and sadness
Sing alleluia and praise Him with gladness!

There is no Son rising, without the starkness of the tomb
There is no birth, without the darkness of the Womb
Like the wheat that falls into the ground
New life springs forth
Gloriously heaven-bound

Body transfigured
Glorious to behold
Mystery of the Word
From prophets foretold
Signs of the wounds in hands, feet and side
Proof for Thomas, that Jesus had died
And now He is risen
He is there at His Father’s side.

Glorious as the new dawn arises
The Son from His tomb emerges
Never again to suffer and die
Body and Blood immortal
On the Altars celebrated as a memorial.

Each day as the new dawn arises
We remember His dying and rising
As the Priest re-presents
All that Jesus asked of His Apostles
The Word that is written in the Gospels.
