Plenary indulgence on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of St. Magdalene of Canossa

HONG KONG (SE): The Apostolic Penitentiary has granted a plenary indulgence from  March 1 to October 2 on the occasion of the 250th birth anniversary of St. Magdalene of Canossa, the founder of the Congregation of the Daughters and Sons of Charity

All the faithful who devoutly visit any church designated by the congregation as a pilgrimage, or at least stay and meditate there for a suitable period of time with a spirit of detachment from any sin, sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion and prayer for the pope’s intentions, may obtian the plenary indulgence.

The same plenary indulgence can be gained by the elderly, the sick and all those who, for serious reasons, are home-confined and who, detaching themselves from any sins and intending to fulfill the usual conditions as soon as possible, before statue or holy picture of St. Magdalene of Canossa, unite themselves spiritually to the 250th anniversary celebrations, offering their prayers and the sufferings and hardships of their lives to the God of Mercy.  

In Hong Kong, the churches and chapels for this pilgrimage purpose are the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Caine Road; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Wanchai; Canossa Hospital Chapel, Mid-Levels; and Rosary Church, Tsim Sha Tsui.
