He saved me

He saved me

By myself I was sure cofident
I could make it in my own strength
I trod an unknown winding path
Ecstatic in another adventure
Just as I had succeeded before.

‘Twas all awesome and delight
All things beautiful and bright
Suddenly, a mesmerising sight !
A winged creature, a shining light
Marvelous wings, black and white

Enchanting me, beauty extreme
Following…reaching a shallow stream
Vulnerable to its alluring scheme
Crossing it, losing my equilibrium
I was drowning in deep water it seemed.

But no, in a quagmire!

I waded in the sucking mud
I knew no one was around
I shouted for help though
No one to help me out
No one to hear me shout.

Doubts if ever I would survive
Alone, but fought to stay alive.
The more I moved the deeper I sank
The smell of murky water stank
I closed my eyes accepting my fate.

Suddenly, I remembered then
The one, my forgotten, my friend.
I called out for his helping hand
Then a strong wind so mighty
Before me felled a nearby tree.

I grasped its trunk with all my energy
Gasping for breath in all humility
I looked up to the sky trustingly
I cried out , “Lord, I need thee
Lift me up, please rescue me.”
