Do you share about your good deeds?

Do you share about your good deeds?

I believe that sharing good deeds by example can bring about much good in the world. Spread happiness and do act of kindness in our own simple ways, is much better than just telling others to do it. In doing so, we can change a negative perspective of life into a positive one. Then we bring other people up in obedience to God’s command to be good to others. We need to be active not only in worship but most especially do service to others and keep up our duties in the Church.

Normally I don’t let people see the fruits of my good deeds. But sometimes, if necessary, I may talk about them especially to family and friends to encourage them and to share the joy of doing good.

Yes, it is good to tell and share the good deeds we do if it is for the glory of God. Matthew 25:40 says, “And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’”

As a member of the Apostleship of Prayer, I do encourage everyone to become closer to God by strengthening their faith, by putting into action what we learn and one of them is to do good deeds.

We should not share with others about our good deeds just to seek self recognition, but think that it may encourage and inspire others to do the same, so that God’s glory can be seen by others in us. It brings about a difference in people’s life. Sharing with others about our good deeds and supporting others in doing so, may in the end allow us to do even more good than simply doing it quietly.

Matthew 6:3-4 says, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you”.

Normally when we do good deeds we do not need to tell everyone about it. However this depends case by case. I share sometimes a good deed I perform not to brag but to inspire others. Doing good deeds does not mean to do something great. God sees what is our intention. All of us can do good deeds even in small ways. For instance if we assist an elderly in crossing the street, that is already performing a good deed. We can share our small acts of charity so others can imitate too.

In a society where individualism and self-interest are often prioritised, sharing stories of kindness can help shift the negativity and promote a culture of empathy and compassion. It reminds us that we are all connected and that we have the power to make a positive difference in someone else’s life. Doing good to others should be a daily practice. Our small acts of kindness can positively impact others and promote a more compassionate and caring society.

Sharing the good deeds we have done for example for our family is good. This is to show them how much we care and love them even if we are physically apart and the reason we work hard abroad is because we want them to have a better life back home.

There are many ways we can show good deeds to people. But do not expect something in return. In my opinion, I would rather keep the good deeds I did to myself. God will repay everything that we do good to people. And people will see it themselves even if we don’t say it. However we should do it with good intentions. If we do good to one person, the good deeds will show eventually when the person we have helped would do the same to others too.
