The kite

The kite

One windy day, I was captured by a red kite flying up so high, which is freely enjoying the wind as it flown in the sky. Of course, we know that there is a string attached to the kite and someone is controlling it. It’s up to the controller whether the kite must go up or down. And when suddenly danger comes, the controller has to quickly pull the string to keep the kite from flying nowhere and worse it might fly into a tall tree where there is no chance it can be retrieved.

Gazing at the height of the kite, I realize that in life this too is happening with us every day. The kite is us and the controller is God. Though we are attached to God, he gives us freedom so that we may freely choose him and do what is true, good, and beautiful. He sets before us life and death, blessing and curse (Deuteronomy 30:19). At times he loosens the string and watch us in our journey.

If the wind or trials is too much to bear and cause us to fall, turning into a wrong path (wrong choices in life) he quickly pulls to keep us back into the right path and keep us safe. When we lack in wisdom, with faith and not doubting, we ask God, who gives to all easily and unconditionally (James 1:5-6). Let us remember that in 1 Corinthians 10:13 it said that “No trial greater than human endurance has overcome you. God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond your strength. He will give you together with the temptation, the strength to escape and resist.”

May we use the gift of freedom in life with the love of God and may we be obedience to choose him always, doing what is true, good, and beautiful that one day we can join Him in his heavenly kingdom.

Dear God, I look to no one else for wisdom. I humbly ask for your help in making decisions in my life. Please give me direction and wisdom so that I may choose the right decision and bring glory to your name. Amen.
