HONG KONG (SE): The 66th Maryknoll Fathers’ School Anniversary Mass was held on 26 September 2023. The school hosted the special event of 66th Anniversary Mass and school opening, marking the first school term opening since the transfer of school sponsorship to the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and the introduction of a new school management team.
The Mass took place at St. Francis of Assisi Church, where Father Grégoire Vignola of the Society of Foreign Missions, the assistant parish priest, presided over the ceremony on the feast of Ss. Cosmas and Damian. In his homily, Father Vignola emphasised the significance of education.
Following the homily, student leaders took a solemn pledge to serve the school and their fellow students with loyalty, faithfulness, and humility by fully embracing the responsibilities entrusted to them.
During the liturgy of the Eucharist, bread, wine, and souvenirs crafted by the students themselves were presented as offerings. The liturgy reminded the participants of their collective calling as educators and the responsibilities they bear as students.
The event set the stage for a vibrant start to the new school year. May the Lord our God continue to bless the school, particularly the new leadership under the auspices of the new school sponsoring body.
