Achievements and failures in my life

Loving, helping and sharing the love of God is my greatest achievements. With our talents and personalities we can touch people with our vocations as we strive and do our commitments. Sacrificing our selfish interest, serving others, and allowing God to use us for the sake of others. This is our true achievements. These are things that really matter. And if we fail, then we know that we have Jesus Christ. He will welcome us not because of our achievements but because he loves us.

My big achievement was when I realized how much I needed God in my life, how much he loved me despite my weaknesses and shortcomings, and when I learned to know the truth about myself. My failure in life is that when I knew the right thing to do and should have done it but didn’t, so I blamed myself.

The biggest achievement that I accomplished was having my own dream house. It is small yet very cozy and I like every detail of it from the roof to the floor. Since my childhood, I made a promise to myself that I would make it happen and I did it. Praise be to God! The big failure that I experienced was when I was denied a visa for Europe. It is my dream to work and be a resident there but I failed. Still, I believe that God has a better plan for me. — Ginna Dendiego

I can say I had achieved what most parents ever dreamt of for their children. My childen grew up with deep faith, love of God and respect for their parents. They have finished a degree and are earning a good paying job that can support their families and live independently. Moreover, I got grandchildren that are obedient with high honours in school and universities. Some of them are serving God through playing instruments, singing as a choir and altar server as well.

Failure is always part of our life. We can’t have everything in a platter and once a door is close another window will open. We experienced failures in our businesses. Our fishpond was washed away one day before the big harvest during the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. Our lumber was shut down. We needed big money as the hand of my son was almost amputated by the cutting sew of our workers. I put all my trust in Gods. He never leaves me alone in my ups and down in life. He is my stronghold.

I would say that one of the greatest achievements I have had in my life is having my own simple family. A family dedicated to serving the Lord; having a loving husband and respectful and good children. I thank God every single day for giving me this special gift that I would live for until my last breath. It means a lot to me to just live simply as long as my family lives harmoniously and happy together. Everything I have has come from God and I will forever be grateful to him for the rest of my life.

As for my so-called failures, I always treat them as learning processes in life. We are prone to imperfections as no one is perfect. We will always face challenges, tribulations, trials, oppressions and persecutions but the most important thing is for us to face them head-on and learn from them and just move on. Always remember to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit and most importantly to have Shekinah (Presence of God) in our lives for us to be able to make the right decisions and choices in life.

Working abroad is a big sacrifice. It is both physically and mentally agonizing to be separated from families for a long time without assurance of what lies ahead and what risks await abroad. For me, the biggest achievement I have ever since I arrived here in Hong Kong is to serve God, and believe God will take care of me. Submit to his will, trust in his grace, and rest myself in his hands with the assurance that the Lord is well pleased with those who has hope in his mercy.

Yet I regret that I am not doing good enough as a wife because I have not changed my husband’s wrongdoings and I didn’t make sure that I raised my child properly because I was away from her. And I will overcome all my failures with the help of the Lord.
