The importance of being open with our employer

The importance of being open with our employer

For me it is very important to have a strong or otherwise healthy relationship with your employer as it affects my life in many aspects each day. Without a good relationship, I cannot say anything frankly regardless of my work performances.

My employer and I have an open communication in all the works at home, especially in raising their children. They have given me the rights on how to discipline their children. On the other hand, I teach the children to be respectful to their parents because it is very important. I am thankful to my employer for all the privilege and trust given to me which allow open communications between us.

Regular and open communication with my employer always build understanding and trust. Through this we can make suggestions and we can ask questions without hesitation. Open communication is also the key for better cooperation among us for better results. Most of the time, we openly talk about raising the kids, how to manage and how to deal with their behaviours, specially that we need much patience, courage and understanding. We also often talk on how to deal our problems in life, and how God work and lead us through on it. Most of all we respect each other.

Open communication is one of the most essential pillars of the employer- domestic worker relationship. The household challenges of the day is a concern for the employer’s family. We should also keep the employer informed of daily problems and listening to them will make domestic helpers feel appreciated. I am blessed to have an employer who allows us to have an open comnunication.

Having a good relationship and an open communication with our employer will make matters easier to handle and at the same time avoid friction or misunderstandings. It makes our work more enjoyable. My employer and I are very open with each other, and it’s flattering sometimes that, she will tell me some of her problems or something that is bothering her sometimes and after the sharing she would feel a sense of relief. Our good relationship helps a lot in creating a peaceful working environment for which I’m always grateful.

When I was new in my job with my present employer and her family, I felt at ease with each member of the family and their being respectful. I also have a good communication line with my employer too. The one that I am close most is the younger son. He is so sweet and even he is in United States now, he always sends messages to the group chat or texts his dad and asks if I am doing well.

While most of the helpers cook breakfast for their employers, here my employer cooks breakfast for me instead. My employer treats me like a member of their family. They give time to talk with me even if they are busy. They are good listeners and they give me good advices too.

When I have problems they give me their support. What gave me inner joy was when my employer in one of our chats told me that one day her children will also take care of me. I am so blessed with the family I am working with and I pray for them too.

My employer and I have an open communication. We sometimes communicate through Whatsapp if they are busy or out. I ask about the food to prepare for each day and I sometimes would suggest a menu of which my employer appreciates. As for her daughter’s activities, my employer will send it to our group chat so that it would be easy for me to follow up. I have been working for them for almost six years. They are kind and supportive. If we are hard working and do well our work, the employers will appreciate our efforts.
