Every time I face problems, trials, stress and loneliness, I just silently pray to God. I know he is always there and raises me up, giving me strength to face all my problems and sends some friends to make me smile. He keeps my family safe and healthy back in the Philippines, especially my kids and parents. He poured out his blessings to me. And I ask myself am I deserving to be his servant? How could I pay him back for all the blessings and good things that happened in my life?.
We need to let God to use us in the storm or in the trial. No matter what we are facing, we should ask God to let him use us in that situation. He has a plan and purpose for everything we go through. He wants us to turn and rely on him. We need to be patient, do good things, be humble and trust in him. I think that is what he wants me to do for him.

In 2 Timothy 2:21-26 it says??, “The Lord wants to use you for special purposes, so make yourself clean from all evil. Then you will be holy, and the Master can use you. You will be ready for any good work. Stay away from the evil things a young person like you typically wants to do.” Yes, I asked God to use me through his grace to help me spread his words to other people like my employers, my students at children Sunday School and my family. This is my way of showing my gratitude for the blessings he gave and is giving me.

God does not actually need anything from us for he is everything. But he is very specific about what we should do. So that when we come face to face with him, we will not ask, “Lord, when did we see you?” We must feed the hungry, cloth the naked, quench the thirsty and visit the prisoners. Yes, whatever we do to the least of our brothers or sisters, we have done that to God. So we must do our best to love one another as Jesus loves us, including our enemies and the not so lovable ones.

I haven’t ask God about what things I can do for him. God helps me accept the things I cannot change, giving me courage to face every trials in life, giving me wisdom to know the difference I need to know and that he is a God who truly loves me, comforts me with peace, strengthens me when I feel weak and find it hard to carry on. With all difficulties I have experienced in life I know God wants me to trust him and rely everything in him. Complete faith and reliance to him is what I am able to do.

I ask God what and how can I serve him effectively, even in my own little way of giving back praise and thanks to him for his goodness in my life and in my family.

“Lord I offer my life to you lifting my praise to you use it for your glory.” I love the lyrics of this praise song by Don Moen, “Lord, I offer my life” and I use this as my prayer everytime I ask the Lord what I can do for him. I pray to the Lord to use me as his instrument. I want to serve the Lord with all of my heart for the glory of his name.

I have not asked God about what things I can do for him. But as a Christian, it is my privilege and responsibilities to love and to serve the Son of God in so many and in different ways. God has given us free will to do things. We can prove our love by obeying Christ’s words. When we love God we are grateful. We will read the Bible, share the Gospel, repent sins, respect and help those in need by loving one another and do his holy will. And the most important thing is my prayer to communicate to God.

In a confession to my spiritual director I asked him to bless me that I may be able to do what God wants me to do for him. It is hard to understand but If I let God do what he wants me to do for him and listen to the guiding voice of the Holy Spirit, and let his way be accomplished in my life and trust his will be done, then I will understand what God is wanting me to do. All I need is to follow his guidance.

God hears our prayers and knows what is in our heart. We must follow his commandments because from there we learn how to serve him and how we should love one another. We need to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit who will guide us on how to serve the Lord. Through God’s grace we are empowered to serve God through our neighbors. May we serve as God’s channel to others.
