
HONG KONG (SE): Father Bonaventure Qi, of the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Dominican Order, was ordained a priest on June 3 by Bishop Stephen Chow Sau Yan, SJ, in the Chapel of Rosary Hill School, St. Albert Priory, Hong Kong.
Over 20 priests concelebrated the Mass, including Monsignor José Luis Díaz-Mariblanca Sanchéz, head of the Holy See Study Mission; the prior provincial, Father Ruben Martinez Ortega; secretary to the provincial, Father Hyacinth He Yousun; Father Martin Bai and other Dominican priests.
Father Qi was born on 15 January 1992 in northern China. In 2006, he completed his primary school education and began his initial formation at the minor seminary in his diocese. It was in 2012 that he began his studies in philosophy at the major seminary. In 2015, he began his vocational journey as a Dominican aspirant in the Philippines, and in 2018, he completed his novitiate in Hong Kong.

In 2018, Father Qi professed a simple vow as a Dominican, and in the same year, he enrolled in theology studies at Holy Spirit Seminary in Hong Kong, which he pursued until 2021. On 29 June 2021, he made his solemn profession as a Dominican friar after completing his theological studies.
He was ordained as a deacon by Bishop Chow on 24 May 2022 in the same chapel at Rosaryhill School.
In June 2022, as pandemic restrictions eased, Father Qi moved to the Philippines and has been based there while pursuing his spiritual growth and service as a deacon.
