A Caritas spring celebration

HONG KONG (SE): Caritas-Hong Kong together more than 250 benefactors and well-wishers for its annual Spring Reception to celebrate the Lunar New year, on the afternoon of February 3 at the Community Hall of Caritas House, Caine Road.

Bishop Stephen Chow Sau Yan, SJ, president of the Council of Caritas addressed the gathering and extended his Lunar New Year greetings. 

“In the traditional Chinese culture, the rabbit symbolises good fortune and harmony, as well as purity, loveliness, vitality and prolificness, all of which are qualities worthy of reference,” the bishop said.

“This year marks the 70th anniversary of Caritas-Hong Kong, I sincerely hope that more people will join the Caritas family to help the underprivileged and build a society full of love and hope,” he said.

Bishop Chow was then joined onstage by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing and Father Joseph Yim Tak-lung, chief executive of Caritas, to make a toast.

A group of children from Caritas Nursery School-Shatin then performed some songs and dance numbers, bringing a festive and joyful atmosphere to the party.
