I believe the relaxation of social distancing by the government is helping to bring back the community and togetherness we used to know in Hong Kong. Although cases will be increasing for a while now, with many people already vaccinated, it won’t take long for things to get settled and life becoming normal once again. I think we shouldn’t get used to the lifestyle the pandemic has introduced us to. Just as we gradually adopted this lifestyle, we should find a balance now, and gradually go back to the normal way of living.

The pandemic has obviously changed how the world operates in the last two to three years. There has been a lot of anticipation of returning to the normal life after a long period of lock downs, restrictions, quarantine among others. It is good to see many countries especially Hong Kong trying to relax its restrictions slowly. I’m not too worried about the increasing cases recently because a huge population of Hong Kong have at least three vaccinations and fatalities have reduced significantly. In my opinion, it’s actually a good initiative by the government as this enables family and friends to celebrate the holidays together.

For me, further relaxation of the government’s social distancing measures is needed to recover economic losses which was greatly affected by the pandemic. At such, we hope that gradually, everything will be back to normal. With regards to the increase of cases here in Hong Kong, we can do our part so that less people will be infected. We should always maintain cleanliness, proper hygiene and follow safety protocols. While we are all happy with these relaxation, we still need to take extra care for ourselves and to everybody.

As we observe the increasing number of cases, it is considered as the new normal since almost all the people in Hong Kong have already taken their vaccines. We are less worried about it. COVID virus are no longer fatal unlike the past few years, but of course to avoid or to minimise the cases here we need to cooperate with the government’s protocol by continuing wearing masks and using hand sanitizer after touching anything.

It is good to be back doing the normal things again after the long strict restrictions we underwent for so long. Businesses which were hardly hit by the pandemic are now open and trying to catch up for loss revenues for the past three years. We should not be complacent because the virus is still in the air.

Further relaxation of social distancing measures of the Hong Kong government is okay for me. But we just have to remain vigilant for our safety. We have to continue protecting ourselves by wearing face masks and practice good hygiene as well. We must also do precautions in public places and transports until the country we are living in is already COVID free.

The government had made a crucial decision to allow the people to have more further relaxation despite the still growing number of cases in town. The government have to recover the economy in time soon or else people will loss their jobs. What citizens need to do is to still follow the social distancing, avoid crowded places and still keep the face mask on. Be safe and healthy.

COVID today is not as fatal as before. We already know how to deal with it. We have already our boosters to strengthen our immune system but we also know our limits. Even there’s relaxation about the social distancing we must avoid or minimise our gatherings. Always wear mask and never forget your sanitizer wherever you go. COVID is still everywhere.
