In our own simple ways

In our own simple ways

Reminiscing my past, which I’m trying to erase
Once I was lost in the dark, tortured by nightmares at rest
Confused and feeling weary and desperate for answers, I searched
Beating my self-injustice, weeping, and sighing, I braced.

When I’m searching for Jesus, the one and only true God
I found Him deep within me that I forgot and ignored
I turned to Him once again with perseverance in my heart
To change my ways of living for a new life, I will start.

Confession and repentance that is all I need
My soul is hungry for bread, Holy Communion I crave
I sought help and found a church that led me closer to God
My hunger has been answered by people sent from above.

I’m reflecting on my life, on this piece of a blank canvas
The answers I’m longing for are already in my hands
I decided to repent with motivation and faith
Cleansing my body and soul at night to have a good sleep.

My thoughts are imagining a lively painting in peace
A blank canvass I’m holding represents my sad past
I took out my paint and brush,
To create a masterpiece
With care and a strong foundation,
I’m hoping that it will last.

My heart and mind are in chaos, in my eyes, there’s turbulence
I was lost, and I was blinded by greed and selfishness
Confusion I’m carrying, God’s kindness I’m enlightened
Now I can see those colours, as I have stopped being blind.

On the canvas of my life, I want to paint bright colours
Images of good and bad I will use as my mixtures
With God’s merciful blessings, my art’s exquisitely done
Now here on this blank canvas, the new image has begun.
