June 30 was a historic day for the Philippines as the inauguration ceremony of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the 17th president of the Philippines, was held in the National Museum of Fine Arts.
I watched the event on television. When the outgoing president Rodrigo Duterte made his way out of the Malacañang Palace, the incoming took his oath.
We need to thank the outgoing administration under President Duterte for their work. It was an arduous journey, but what is important is that we stood firm through its ups and downs.
I observed the inauguration address of president Marcos. We hope things will work out for good, and this can only be achieved if we work together for a common goal of reaching a shared dream.
It was an oath between the president and its people, its laws and constitution to be enforced fairly and squarely. A leader can always look back when things get tough and draw strength from a seal of the covenant.
We are now moving on to a new chapter of governance. We know this is a tough start for Filipinos, but if both government and citizens unite, we can make our beloved country a better place. So help us, God.
