It is easy to say “I love Jesus,” but putting it into practice is difficult. I can show my love for Jesus through my thoughts, words, and deeds. One way is by treating others with kindness and seeing Christ in them. Performing my work is a way to say I love Jesus, and I can even share stories of the life of Jesus with my employers, given the opportunity. I have non-Christian friends, and I share my faith with them. Fulfilling my obligations as a Catholic faithfully and spending some time during the day conversing with the Lord through prayers is my other way of expressing my love for him. If we can spend hours on social media, why is it hard to spend time communicating with the Lord?

I’m living with an 83-year-old lady, and for me, she is my Jesus that needs to be loved every day. It is a difficult job. But I try to get up from my failures and start again to serve her because she is my little Jesus.

As Jesus says, we can show our love for him by following his commandments (John 14:15). And Jesus said the sum of the commandments is to love God with all our being and to love our neighbours as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40). The best way to show our love for Jesus Christ is to receive him and proclaim how he loved us to others.

I can show my love for Jesus first by living a life pleasing to him. I can be a part of his mission by serving in the church. I can please the Lord if my faith is followed with actions besides my daily prayers. I think being good to others and offering my help to those in need are most pleasing to Jesus. “Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
If I have offended him, I will go to confession and ask for his forgiveness. Someone full of sin may find it difficult to give love. Thus, his heart and soul need cleansing through confession.

It is effortless to say, “I love Jesus”. But in reality, loving Jesus calls for sacrifices. We need a heart that demonstrates love for Christ. Jesus says in John 14:15, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments”. This verse is pretty self-explanatory, so the best way to show my love for Jesus is to obey what he taught, be an example and act like him—loving, forgiving, merciful and compassionate. To show my love for Jesus is to serve others— feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome strangers. I may also add that I have to attend Holy Mass regularly because it is the highest form of prayer, so it is the best time to talk to him.

Our love for each other reflects God’s love for every one of us. To love God with all our heart, with all our strength and with all our minds. Even if we give all we have but if we have no love, we gain nothing. The best way of manifesting my love for Jesus is to act like him and serve others.

As a helper, I also show my love for Jesus by loving my employers as my own family. I would do everything for the love of God, and in that way, I have shown my employer that Jesus truly lives in me.

We can show that we love Jesus by being thankful for the daily life that our God gives us. Every morning we wake up is a blessing. I start my day by spending a few moments in prayer. Worshipping our Lord and thanking him for all blessings received. To love God is to love others, including those we find difficult to love. Mere words are not enough if no deeds or action is done. It also entails obedience and humility. I try to see Christ in others. Before I react, I would ask myself if it would be pleasing to him.

Forgiveness is also a beautiful expression of how we love Jesus. Out of this love, we treat those people who hurt us with kindness despite the pain we have received from them. It is very challenging for me, but then the love of Jesus reminds me to keep doing good regardless of the disappointments.
