Listen to the thirst of Jesus in the hearts of the poor.
Listen to his thirst in their souls.
Hear them as they cry to you and me
Helping them should be our goal.
“I thirst” was his cry from the Cross.
He thirsts for each one and all.
He beckons to us from his agony,
Can you hear his desperate call?
Mary, too, has her role in bringing us
Face to face with the love
In the heart of Jesus crucified,
As he searches our hearts from above.
“Listen to Jesus’ thirst.”
Let it be for each, a word of life.
For those who suffer in body or soul,
Furthermore, for those whose consolation is denied.
“The poor will always be with you,”
Even when you cannot help them all
Open your hearts and listen
To the thirst of Jesus, when he calls.
