With the high risk of getting infected in Hong Kong in the fifth wave of the pandemic, I have decided to stay at home during my holidays. To pass the time, I clean my room, sort out my things, do cross stitch, sing hymn songs, talk to my kids and family back home and take time to rest.

For me changes on my holiday arrangements are not a problem. I have to obey my employer and I’m always ready to shorten my time spending outside for them. Furthermore there is a government rule banning a gathering of more than two to avoid big crowds. I think these regulations are for our own good and protection. This is a good thing the government does for us and for the safety of everybody.

I thought staying at home on rest days was the best way to keep myself away from the viruses, but I still contracted it. My employer got the virus and may have spread to all members of the family including me.
But we are very lucky and thankful that we recovered quickly. Thanks be to God for being with us during these crises. We must not stop praying that someday everything will be restored to normal.

When the number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong reach thousands every day, most of the overseas workers now experienced total changes in their holidays. I have no choice but to stay at home. As for me, I feel sad that I cannot go to the church of course. I cannot meet my friends or have any bonding with them. I even need to wear facemask every day not only when I need to go outside but also at work inside the house which is so irritating.
Now I need to take my vitamins every day just to be sure that my health is safe. And after a body check up, I took the vaccines, for which I am thankful.

Unlike before when I could go out with my friends, now I stay home on my holidays, sleep more, wake up late and watch YouTube movies. I prefer to stay home for my safety. I am also doing this for my employer although they are not requiring me to do it. They fully understand that it is my holiday. It is not a big problem with me.

For my own safety and for the safety of my employer and family I opted to stay home. I do not need to go to crowded places. I took Antigen Rapid Tests regularly at home for safety and security. I am happy that I have completed my vaccination with booster. But I feel upset upon knowing that some overseas workers lost their jobs because they were infected. This is really a heavy burden for then to carry aside from being sick. So I would rather stay at home for my own sake and for my family.

The social restrictions in the fifth wave of Covid-19 pandemic, if we do not think negatively, are actually for our own welfare. We can take this as an opportunity to strengthen our faith while we pray at home for an end for this pandemic and for the end of war in other countries. We can utilise our stay at home to chat with our family and relatives through the social media. We can also take a rest, do some spritual readings, meditations and reflections.
It is sometimes nice to be free from the noise of the world. Also by not going out, we can avoid spending.

It is difficult for us to either stay at home on our weekly day offs, or face the strict social distancing regulations outside. But just hold on and don’t give up. Remember that the rainbow comes out and the sun will shine after a heavy rain. Our faith and trust to God is our weapon to survive in the pandemic.
