Envy is one feeling that can appear in the hearts of every person. I would never believe a person telling me that they have never envied someone.
I used to feel envious of others easily. However, I realised that if you love that person and value them, you will be happy for any improvement or attainment they achieve in life.
For example, I am proud of my brother. He worked hard as a deliveryman and saved enough money to build a two-story house for his family. Also, my niece got a scholarship from a university, and I am very thankful to God for that. It helps their family a lot. I also have a close friend who worked for a long time here in Hong Kong, and after she returned to the Philippines for good, she was able to have a very nice home built. I am happy for her.
Their achievements have moved me, knowing how hard they worked for it and did plannings. I knew the difficulties they had to undergo to attain it, so I am happy for them.
That knowledge inspired me to do the same, to have a mindset that I can achieve my dreams when I believe in God and myself. Being happy for others’ success reminds me that everyone has the same chances.
